Alien Eggs is a game where you guide an alien mother through a maze to collect her lost eggs. The goal is to get as high of a score as possible. Keep in mind that you can toggle blocks on/off with the 5 key (space) You should be able to play through the entire game in less than 10 minutes. The mama alien will be happier at the end of the game if you rescue as many baby alien eggs as possible!
The game is designed around the extreme limitations of the Nokia 3310. I tried to envision something that might have been able to run on this great old phone. Since I decided to use a vertical format, I picture that the phone would be held sideways to play it.
This is for the NOKIA 3310 JAM 3 which is my fourth game jam and the second one that I'm entering with a 1-bit constraint. For some reason the extreme limitations have been appealing to me. I hope you like ALIEN EGGS!

This is fun! If this was actually on that Nokia phone it would’ve been the best game on there
I think it would be cool if you could temporarily stun or kill the enemy if you switch the blocks on when it’s on top of the off blocks. It would be a cool way to get bonus points
That would be cool! If I were devoting more time to it I think I'd work on the enemy collision the most. Thanks for the big compliment. I don't know if it really would compete with snake and I also don't know if I stuck with all of the limitations of the system. I guess we'd need Nokia Studio to do that, haha.
Nokia Studio --- now that’s a good idea!
Straight up, this is the best game of the jam I have played so far. The controls and concept are simple, but switching the blocks and looping from top to bottom of the screen allows for lots of complex puzzling. The art is terrific; the amount of character you manage to get out of such tiny sprites is incredible (I particularly love the death animation). There were some minor bugs (saw an enemy clip through a block and generally though the collision shapes could be a bit peak sometimes) but these didn't hamper my fun all that much because the difficulty to finish the game was really low. Making the difficult part of the game the optional aim to score highly was a great idea to allow players with differing levels of patience to finish your game. All in all, very satisfying and fun. I expect to see you with a prize at the end of all this :)
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words! I know what you mean about the collision. I really do not like that bug but I didn't have a practical way to eliminate it. I'm not a great programmer so I don't understand what is causing it in the underlying code. It ended up being above my pay grade.
Great work! If I still had a nokia I would definitely have this on it!
this looks sweet! great work :)
Lots of fun! I can see a game like this really being on a nokia
Hey thanks! I was really trying my best to work within that constraint.
