Fantastic art design. And the story was surprisingly gripping. One small piece of feedback: the character can be hard to move around obstacles. It would be good if he could "slip" around them.
haha funny to see a speed run! If you want to shave off some time if you talk to the tall guy when you have the shotgun you can skip the part where the camera pans over to him from the lock.
This game, stylistically was amazing, I enjoyed the cult like vibe and the interesting ending, that was both unsatisfying yet revealed a lot. Good job!
Hey thanks for playing! It was interesting to hear your thoughts on game jam games. I think I half agree with you. Making game jam games does make you rush to the point where you are compromising what you want to do but if I didn't have the limited time-frame I don't think this game would exist at all. I'm working on a much bigger more complete game at the moment so this was really a side project to take a break from my bigger project. I wouldn't have been able to spare more time away from the other project so basically it was this or nothing and I was pretty happy with what I accomplished in 9 days. I'd rather have it exist in its current form than not at all.
Understandable, on the aspect of 'something on the side', I guess, whether its to avoid 'Burnout' or to throw some spice at the steak that is your creative-life or lifestyle (Being a game dev), where spicing things with Carrots on the side because the steak is large and you want some potatoes on that plate. Food analogies always work.
Although, I am definitely a person who would just cook a single slab of salmon or steak and eat nothing else, just that hunk of meat, other people can't eat like that. Hah.
this game filled me with such pure joy, its so great to see my love for possums and existential angst reflected in such a well composed piece of media! :D
I love a game with a great story and bizarre twist! I was looking for a horror game that had more to it than mazes, flashlights and key-hunting, and Opossum Country is my fix. I love the simplicity of its visual style and colorful characters. The genre needs more games like this.
this was dope as heck man! the art is amazing as always of course but damn that battle system was so impressive honestly! you absolutely need to make more of these
This game is great! I love the art - the characters are visibly human yet still very...off, and it really adds to the creepy atmosphere. So does the music, especially when it became all tense in the forest and near the end. I get that this was a one-off for a gamejam but I'd really love to see this expanded upon.
Holy damn, this is an amazing game. The artwork is great, with a few pixels, you created so much atmosphere and the story is really fun (perfect pacing). I loved all of it, thanks for such a neat, spoopy experience, I had a blast with it.
Hey thanks for playing! This was fun to watch. Bill is the creepy bald guy. Sorry it wasn't more clear. My original build had their names next to them but it seemed to make them less creepy.
I actually thought so but as you could see/hear from me doing the voices, I was all over the place when I played this, so it's definitely not the writing but me not getting it while I was playing (I mean, I confused everything, I shouldn't play right after work). I think it was a good decision to leave out the names, that way, it's more interesting to connect the dots of their stories.
don't worry about it! if you ever pick this back up as a non-challenge game, i'd recommend trying to add a "run away" function when encountering the possums, and have a different ending for not killing any/just not killing the girl. but, it's your game, and you're free to ignore me if you don't want to/dont have the time, and thank you for the experience!
Glad you liked it! I think it feels so much like a Game Boy game because it actually is a Game boy game. Using GBStudio I managed to make a genuine GB rom that will run on the original hardware. In fact the browser is just running an html Game Boy emulator!
This was incredible. Everything about it was so carefully crafted and smart, from the palette swapping to the music, to the use of the point-and-click to the character design. What a blast.
It's really effective. I like how the game sends me off on a quest and it puts me in the right place to see a bit of story. Kind of subverts my expectation of quest - story - quest - story.
Yeah in real life sometimes things just happen suddenly. Games always feel like they stand still waiting for you to do the next thing which is not super dynamic.

nice!
The best thing about this game is it doesn't try and do too much! You kept it very focused and polished. Very cool!

Thanks for playing! I know what you mean but the engine does not allow that. Maybe I'll put less little stuff to get stuck on in future games.
Wow! This is awesome! I wish it were much longer!
cool
Gotta Go Fast

That's sick! Thanks!

Love your game! The GBC style suits the game really well and somehow still comes off as scary and unsettling.
That was fun! killed my oppossum GF 10/10
Loved playing this!
Gave it a Let's Play, though I am confused with how something as gentle as an Opossum could be used and represented as being so aggressive, lol

Hey great game. Congrats!
Thank you!
Great comics too. Thank you.
Ok, that was a masterpiece. Great execution!
Hey Thanks!
very nice game but that was the crappiest ending ever

This is one of my favorite GBS projects up to this point. Oozes with personality and just really hits all the right notes stylistically!
Thank you! That means a lot
This was dope and mad nostalgic. Keep up the great work.
this is very good. Hope you do a version that rounds out the endings!
Sad, was hoping that not shooting any of them would have had a different ending. Can't progress through last encounter without shooting.
If I work on this game again in the future I will be making a pacifist ending. It just wasn't possible within the scope of the jam unfortunately.
Amazing and well done Game. The ending felt a little bit sudden and unresolved though.
this was dope as heck man! the art is amazing as always of course but damn that battle system was so impressive honestly! you absolutely need to make more of these
Thanks! I know it was a little janky but Game Boy is a really tricky system

This is a really fun game.!I enjoyed the story and like the simplicity of the game controls. Great artwork!

Awesome story and amazing art style! Enjoyed playing this game a lot! :)
Thanks!
Damn, I wanted to do a pacifist run, but it looks like I can't do that :(
Still a really good game, though :>
That would be really cool. I wish I had time to implement it!

Amazing. The tempo change in the music was so effective, actually unsettling.
woah this was pretty cool and well made
i was thinking he gona save that girl
same so sad
Wow. You really nailed the GameBoy style! Everything was insanely well made. This was really fun.
Glad you liked it! I think it feels so much like a Game Boy game because it actually is a Game boy game. Using GBStudio I managed to make a genuine GB rom that will run on the original hardware. In fact the browser is just running an html Game Boy emulator!

This game is very cool. Very well made. Congrats for your work.

Thanks so much!
Really nice. I like how you used quests and story events with one another so that something happens as you look around. Really cool!
Thanks! I tried to get as much mileage as i could out of the triggers and timers.
It's really effective. I like how the game sends me off on a quest and it puts me in the right place to see a bit of story. Kind of subverts my expectation of quest - story - quest - story.

A really good game. Beautiful execution. Fantastic artwork, story telling and design. Well done! I loved it.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it.
