I love a game with a great story and bizarre twist! I was looking for a horror game that had more to it than mazes, flashlights and key-hunting, and Opossum Country is my fix. I love the simplicity of its visual style and colorful characters. The genre needs more games like this.
this was dope as heck man! the art is amazing as always of course but damn that battle system was so impressive honestly! you absolutely need to make more of these
This game is great! I love the art - the characters are visibly human yet still very...off, and it really adds to the creepy atmosphere. So does the music, especially when it became all tense in the forest and near the end. I get that this was a one-off for a gamejam but I'd really love to see this expanded upon.
Holy damn, this is an amazing game. The artwork is great, with a few pixels, you created so much atmosphere and the story is really fun (perfect pacing). I loved all of it, thanks for such a neat, spoopy experience, I had a blast with it.
Hey thanks for playing! This was fun to watch. Bill is the creepy bald guy. Sorry it wasn't more clear. My original build had their names next to them but it seemed to make them less creepy.
I actually thought so but as you could see/hear from me doing the voices, I was all over the place when I played this, so it's definitely not the writing but me not getting it while I was playing (I mean, I confused everything, I shouldn't play right after work). I think it was a good decision to leave out the names, that way, it's more interesting to connect the dots of their stories.
don't worry about it! if you ever pick this back up as a non-challenge game, i'd recommend trying to add a "run away" function when encountering the possums, and have a different ending for not killing any/just not killing the girl. but, it's your game, and you're free to ignore me if you don't want to/dont have the time, and thank you for the experience!
Glad you liked it! I think it feels so much like a Game Boy game because it actually is a Game boy game. Using GBStudio I managed to make a genuine GB rom that will run on the original hardware. In fact the browser is just running an html Game Boy emulator!
This was incredible. Everything about it was so carefully crafted and smart, from the palette swapping to the music, to the use of the point-and-click to the character design. What a blast.
It's really effective. I like how the game sends me off on a quest and it puts me in the right place to see a bit of story. Kind of subverts my expectation of quest - story - quest - story.
Yeah in real life sometimes things just happen suddenly. Games always feel like they stand still waiting for you to do the next thing which is not super dynamic.

Ok, that was a masterpiece. Great execution!

This is one of my favorite GBS projects up to this point. Oozes with personality and just really hits all the right notes stylistically!
Thank you! That means a lot
This was dope and mad nostalgic. Keep up the great work.
this is very good. Hope you do a version that rounds out the endings!
Sad, was hoping that not shooting any of them would have had a different ending. Can't progress through last encounter without shooting.
If I work on this game again in the future I will be making a pacifist ending. It just wasn't possible within the scope of the jam unfortunately.
Amazing and well done Game. The ending felt a little bit sudden and unresolved though.

Thanks! I know it was a little janky but Game Boy is a really tricky system

Damn, I wanted to do a pacifist run, but it looks like I can't do that :(
Still a really good game, though :>
That would be really cool. I wish I had time to implement it!

Wow. You really nailed the GameBoy style! Everything was insanely well made. This was really fun.

Thanks so much!
Really nice. I like how you used quests and story events with one another so that something happens as you look around. Really cool!
Thanks! I tried to get as much mileage as i could out of the triggers and timers.

A really good game. Beautiful execution. Fantastic artwork, story telling and design. Well done! I loved it.
