Devlog 10: End of the Journey
Well, here we are! Today is the first day of UNEARTHED pre-orders and marks the end of the development side of the journey. All that's left now is to get UNEARTHED into the hands of the players!
You can now pre-order the game through Limited Run! Don't forget there is a limited window to order the game - you will need to order it before August 25th! The digital version will be out soon, too. We will provide more info on that in the near future.
We hope you have enjoyed this series on the The Making of UNEARTHED. I have enjoyed writing them and sharing what was my very first collaboration in the realm of GB Studio and Game Boy development. I was only 3 months in to experimenting with GBS when I saw Ben's short game Opossum Country, reached out with a little idea about a mech digging through the dirt and solving puzzles and look where we are now!
I'm very proud to have worked with Ben and Lunchz and we are so excited to see what you think of the full version of UNEARTHED.
This edition represents years of hard work adding to the game. There are 50+ new levels, a revised par system, tons of new game mechanics, unlockable levels, a much expanded story, and new music from Lunchz. The jam version could be considered a prototype compared to the finished game.
We would like to thank all the playtesters for volunteering their time to help us squash all the bugs and provide suggestions for polish.
Sysop-Delco, Hamish Lockwood, Equinox, Matthias Smale, November, thrsm, WetLava, thank you deeply for all your help!
We want to give a very special thanks to Stephan Hradek. Stephan poured so much time into playtesting it was just incredible. In particular, he provided much needed support to me personally when finding and fixing all the bugs seemed like a mountain too hard to climb at times. Playtesters don't get paid for their hard work when testing an indie GB game, they give their time just to help. And yet, playtesting can be tedious, boring and painful at the best of times. But without them, developers burn out and a games quality can suffer from that in the end. Thank you to every playtester out there that's helped an indie dev finish their game, you do it for the love and we love you for it!
So that's it from me. Ben, Lunchz and I look forward to reading about what you all think of the full version of UNEARTHED!
Happy gaming!
